April 3, 2015
A belated “Welcome to Spring” to you! (If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, that is). I hope you’re enjoying yourself wherever you are… did you see the recent eclipse? It was the same day as the Equinox – there was a lot going on that week, phew!
I’ve got some tips for you below on collaborating with the energy of this Spring season, to help your physical body and also to help you stretch and grow toward what you desire, just like all the tiny plants poking up through the earth toward the sun.
Also below are a couple of ways to work with me – locally and online. I look forward to seeing you somewhere soon!
To new growth,
Colleen

Upcoming classes:
Santa Cruz/Northern California folks:
I’m teaching an introductory workshop on The Healing Power of Essential Oils on April 21st and would love to have you join me. It’s a fun, hands-on, educational class and I really love teaching it!
Have you been curious about essential oils but didn’t know where to start or how to use them? The many uses of essential oils include stress reduction; relief from colds, infections or allergies; hormone balance; digestive assistance and much more. Not only do these powerful substances from plants have strong healing abilities, but they smell great too! In this introductory workshop you will learn the history, benefits and applications of essential oils, with an in-depth experience and exploration of at least 5 individual oils. You will also create your own take-home blend to address any physical or emotional concerns that you may have.
A past participant said: “an informative, wonderfully experiential class”.

Detox 360
This new 30-day online Health Reboot Program that I offered in February was so great! It was my first online course and really fun for me to deliver. One participant lost 25 pounds – and easily! (More from her below).
It’s not one of those quickie, unhealthy weight loss programs, but a system to eliminate the foods that no longer work for you, while guiding you to embrace a whole new balanced, toxin-free lifestyle, full of self-care habits. It’s not just for those interested in weight loss, but also for those who want to feel really great.
“Are you ready to make a major transformation in the way you look, feel, and think? That is exactly what happened to me with this amazing Detox 360 program. Leave it to Colleen Burke to find the most complete detox program available. With nutritional and homeopathic supplements, weekly webinars, clear information and sound structure, this program was easy to embrace and follow. To date I have lost 25 pounds and I feel like a new person. My thinking is clearer and my mood is definitely elevated. The guidelines that I followed in this program have now become my new standard of eating and if I had to describe my transformation in one word it would be – Freedom!”
*Just wanted to give you a heads up that I’ll be offering this group class again soon – probably late Spring – just in time for Summer! (The previous class information is still up, however, if you’d like to check it out https://www.healwithcolleen.com/detox360)
So keep your eyes peeled for upcoming announcements about this awesome program.

Collaborating with the Energies of Spring
Spring is a time of great growth, expansion, creativity, activity and new beginnings. Sometimes all this bustling activity can be too much after a quiet winter. According to traditional Chinese medicine, spring is the domain of the liver organ, and if the liver energy system isn’t balanced, we can get a little cranky this time of year. Here are some ideas to support the liver system and collaborate with the energies of spring:
1. Foods: certain foods help move and support the liver, like bean sprouts, citrus fruits, salad greens, broccoli, string beans, beets, celery, carrots and chicken.
2. Herbs: “Spring Tonics” used to be the norm this time of year. Usually comprised of herbs like dandelion, milk thistle, burdock root and sarsaparilla, they function similarly to wake up and support that liver. Check your local herbal store. Lychee berries are also helpful, as is a cup of chrysanthemum tea.
3. Exercise: definitely. Get your chi moving – the liver loves this. And motion begets motion, right? It will help you to harness all this active and expansive energy available to you right now.
4. Essential oils: there are many, but my favorite for this time of year, and particularly helpful for supporting the sometimes frenetic liver energy, is Lime. Lime-green is the exact color of spring, of the new growth all around us. Lime essential oil helps soften cranky livers and move us gently toward the new beginnings we desire. It’s fresh scent is delightful and lifts up the mood too.
5. Self-massage: the area on the top of the foot, between the big toe and the second toe is a great spot to massage right now. Gets our energy moving but relaxes us at the same time, just like the lime essential oil. You could even apply the oil to this spot – perfect!
6. Beauty: treat yourself to some gorgeous tulips, whether you bring them into your home or you admire them in someone’s garden. ♦
